WLED FAQ

  • Reboots of ESP32 based WLED controllers
  • LED Flickering with WLED Software 0.15.0 and newer

It is often reported that WLED software versions 0.15.x and 0.16.x cause LEDs to flicker occasionally. This problem occurs when more than one LED output is used. According to current knowledge, the flickering is caused by the LED RMT control method, but the exact cause is not yet understood. To resolve this issue, a different control method was introduced in WLED version 0.5.1-beta2: ParallelI2S. This can be enabled in the WLED LED settings for more than two LED outputs. However, this method can only be used if the same LED types are connected to all outputs (more precisely, LEDs with the same timing). Furthermore, the number of LEDs per output is limited to 600. Otherwise, it is recommended to continue using WLED version 0.14.4 if possible.
