    З одного боку, з цими типами світлодіодів безвідмовна робота зазвичай можлива лише за допомогою LevelShifter. З іншого боку, ці типи часто мають окремі світлодіоди, об'єднані в групи по 3 (на 12 В) або по 6 (на 24 В). Світлодіодами в групі неможливо керувати незалежно один від одного. Також говорять про логічний світлодіод, який фізично складається з 3 або 6 світлодіодів.
